Campanula punctata BSWJ7436
Over time I have found myself drawn to Campanulas. With careful selection, fine varieties can be added to the garden where their bell like flowers make quite a statement in early Summer. This form of Campanula punctata is a wild collection from Japan where it grows on sunny mountainsides and woodland edges. A truly beautiful plant from the moment it starts into growth with its purple flushed foliage. The flowers are borne from June onwards, creamy white flowers on reddish stems to 40-50cm tall. If you already grow Campanulas in the garden, look out for the ‘Harebell Carpenter Bee’ frequenting the flowers, a tiny black bee, little more then 5mm in size.
