Cichorium intybus ‘Album’

Upright spikes of pure white star shaped flowers in early to mid Summer. Cichorium intybus ‘Album’ is the white selected form of wild cichory which is usually a brilliant blue. We grow all all three colours of cichory (there is a lovely pink form too) and they are absolutely beautiful dotted through a border in early summer – their tall wirey stems rising above the neighbouring plants suddenly bursting into flower, creating lovely vertical accents of colour down the border. We plant the white form mixed with Lychnis chalcedonica ‘Roseum’ dotted through clumps of grasses. Height 1m. Prefers a sunny position.
