Eryngium yuccifolium

Eryngium yuccifolium is a New World Eryngium, heralding from the tall grass parries of central and eastern North America.

Greyish green sword like leaves remain year round, then come summer branching flowerhead made up of many small, whitish, green egg shaped flowers are borne atop 1.2m stems.  Eryngium yuccifolium prefers a little more moisture in the growing season, but needs to be protected from getting too wet in the winter.  We find it is very happy on our improved clay over limestone.  Very striking and architectural, it looks superb coming through grasses.
