Mimulus aurantiacus ‘Eleanor’
I grow a number of Mimulus aurantiacus selections, however it is perhaps ‘Eleanor’ that gets top prize for me. Mimulus aurnatiacus is normally a real bright orange tubular flowers, frilled at the edges. ‘Eleanor’ has flowers the colour of lemon curd, veined with white. I treat the plants as sub shrubs, pruning them rather then cutting back and for us here in Shropshire I keep them in a cold greenhouse or polytunnel over the winter. Gardening friends in milder areas of the UK grow them outdoors year round. Excellent in pots, we also plant them out for the summer at the front of the border.
