Penstemon barbatus var. coccineus

Penstemon barbatus var. coccineus made us completely rethink the genus.  An absolute star in our garden from mid-summer onwards.  The flowers are delicate tubular flowers of scarlet red, borne on elegant, gently arching stems.  Full sun and drainage are a must.

We have found that some plants can reach as much as 1.2m but more normally they range from 60-90cm.
