Verbena ‘Lilac Spires’

Verbena ‘Lilac Spires’ is relatively new to us and already performing wonderfully in the garden. It is thought to be a cross between the much taller Verbena macdougalii ‘Lavender Spires’ and Verbena officinalis ‘Bampton’ – two excellent parents and was selected by Kim and Stephen Rogers of Dove Cottage Nursery. Verbena ‘Lilac Spires’ as the name suggests is a slightly paler lilac purple to the darker purple flowers of Verbena macdougalii ‘Lavender Spires’. It holds its tiny flowers in an open candelabra arrangement, not unlike Verbena hastata. It is a frothy mass of flowers from July- September. Height 60-80cm. Needs a sunny position and reasonable drainage.
