Astrantia major ‘Dark Desire’
In our opinion the very best dark flowered form. Astrantia ‘Dark Desire’ has dark maroon red stems and flowers. Excellent repeat flowering if deadheaded. Bred by Kim and Stephen Rogers of Dove Cottage. Always commented on in the garden and looks wonderful contrasted with orange flowers of Geum ‘Totally Tangerine’ and maroon thistles of Cirsium rivulare ‘Purpureum’. Astrantias do best in humus rich soils, in sun or part shade.
