Miscanthus nepalensis

Miscanthus nepalensis is in our opinion the most beautiful of all the Miscanthus.  From late August pendulous plumes the colour of liquid gold erupt, when the late season sun catches the flowers they really do glimmer.   Excellent seed heads during winter.  We have found Miscanthus nepalensis to be hardy with the addition of a dry mulch, others have struggled with it through winter –  to be on the safe side we would recommend a sheltered spot or a pot in a cool glasshouse.  120cm.
