Miscanthus sinensis ‘Malepartus’

Miscanthus sinensis ‘Malepartus’ is deservedly popular, and we class this as the industry standard.  All Miscanthus must be judged against this to see whether they are worth growing.  What is so good about it?  It is a good height, reaching approximately 1.8m, we position this in the middle of the border where it can do its growing unnoticed until September when the fabulous rich burgundy flowers erupt, the flowers are held well clear of the foliage, meaning that you can truly enjoy the flowers.  As with all Miscanthus the flower heads persist throughout the winter until we cut them back in late February.  Miscanthus sinensis ‘Malepartus’ really is a joy to behold from early Autumn onwards.
