Campanula ‘Misty Dawn’

Campanula ‘Misty Dawn’ is perhaps the one Campanula that made me reevaluate the genus,  beforehand I showed scant regard them. Campanula ‘Misty Dawn’ produces towering spikes which are covered in masses of lilac/purple bells.  The spikes cut through softer neighbouring planting and combine beautifully with early season grasses such as Deschampsia ‘Goldtau’ and the gorgeous umber Cenolophoum denudatum.  It is fairly vigorous, not to the extent that I have found it to be a problem, however an annual check with a sharp spade around the edge would be advisable.

One of my star plants in the garden in late June.
