Gillenia trifoliata

From early April, russet coloured shoots and leaves emerge, before the whole plant unfolds and is adorned by delicate pure white star like flowers.  Thriving in dappled shade where the flowers shine out in May and June.  From late summer onwards the leaves turn gorgeous autumnal shades.

Gillenia trifoliata is slow to bulk up, but worth the wait.  A real woodland delight.
