Niwaki Mainichi Secateurs

Niwaki Mainichi Secateurs are an excellent choice if you don’t want to spend a fortune but want a good reliable mid range pair of secateurs. They are very popular in Japan because they are simple, sharp and strong. Unlike western brands, which rely on cushioning and gearing for a smooth feel, these have a more direct action, resulting in a very clean, efficient cut. They feel very comfortable to handle and the chunky catch at the bottom makes them easy to use.

The yellow handles make them easy to spot when you accidentally put them in the compost.  Perfect for keen gardeners.
When investing in these tools maintenance is key. Clean off sap with Crean mate and Camellia oil, and sharpen with a Niwaki Sharpening Stone every few weeks.
