Amsonia illustris
A gardening friend recommended that we grow Amsonia illustris primarily for the fact that it has some of the best autumn colour of all Amsonia. It most certainly does, come September and October the whole plant will turn gorgeous shades of orange and yellow. It flowers in early summer, with the sky blue flowers synonymous with Amsonia. As with all Amsonia we find Amsonia illustris to be easy to grow, robust and long lived.
