Aruncus ‘Horatio’
We have never been big fans of astilbe: too stiff, the flower spikes too dense they almost look artificial – but Aruncus on the other hand we love. The flower structure is similar to an astilbe but looser and more delicate – an altogether more natural, elegant plant that works well planted on the margin of a pond or stream, in a woodland garden setting, or in a herbaceous border. Aruncus ‘Horatio’ is a tall cultivar at 1 – 1.2m in height, with beautiful finely dissected foliage that emerges with lovely bronze colouring. In Summer tall airy plumes of creamy white with a flush of coral pink emerge and fade in Autumn to rich coppery seed heads. The foliage has good coppery autumn colour too.
