Polemonium ‘Hopley’s’

We were given Polemonium ‘Hopley’s’, on our last visit to Dove Cottage Nursery, by Steven Rogers, who thought it was a great plant. I accepted politely as I’ve never been that fussed at Polemoniums, or Jacob’s Ladder, as they are commonly known. However Polemonium ‘Hopley’s’ has proven to be an absolute stunner. Such an abundance of flowers of a beautiful lilac shade and borne over a much longer flowering period than is usual – from late Spring it was still pushing up new flowers well into Summer. Good for planting with all those cottage garden favourites in the border, but also worth trying in long grass/meadow situations where it thrives according to Kevin Hughes of Cally Garden – I would certainly like to give this a try.
